Stay Calm and Pray!

We all know that at this time the coronavirus is a global pandemic, affecting millions of families. Our daily lives are so different. Our routines have changed. And because of social isolation we are home a lot more than we probably ever have been. This pandemic has put us in a state of stillness. There are tons of news reports and briefings daily on what is happening around the world due to this virus. It is heartbreaking to watch while we sit at home with our families wondering how will we ever come back from this? How long will this last? When can we be together with our family and friends again? Jobs? Schools? Community?

Stay Calm and Pray!

“The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.” -Exodus 14:14 NKJV

God knows from the beginning to the end how this will all work out. Lean in on Him during this time. Let Him be your voice of reason, your guidance in the darkness, your protector, your healer, your provider, your comforter. Let Him be all these things and more for you and your family! Prayer changes a multitude of things and often times is not instantaneous (as we would prefer it to be). God’s timing is always perfect. We can trust in that.

When I am afraid, I will put my trust and faith in You.” -Psalms 56:3 AMP

I encourage you to take full advantage of this time of stillness to grow closer to our Savior. Let Him be your rock and your place of rest. Cast your cares and worries onto Him.

“casting all your cares [all your anxieties, all your worries, and all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares about you [with deepest affection, and watches over you very carefully].” -1 Peter 5:7 AMP

Seeking Christ first gives us a more joyful perspective on life. How can we have joy with everything that is going on right now? We can begin with taking a good look at ourselves and our surroundings. The blessings we sometimes take for granted are being brought to the forefront of lives now. You and your family waking up in the morning, in good healthy, in a safe home, hearing your children laugh and play together. Having extra time to spend connecting with your spouse and children. Running water, heat, air, warm meals to eat, stepping outside to play or get some fresh air, praying together, snuggles, reading, watching movies and playing games. For some, the ability to be able to work from home and still have an income. To mention these things and think of all the other blessings provided to us from God warms my heart and brings me so much joy!!

We have learned that this is also a much needed lesson for our children to learn as well. Our children are still really little, our twin boys are 5 and our little princess is 1. I feel that helping them learn this act of gratefulness will only help them have more of an appreciation for the simple tangible gifts that God has blessed them with.

If you have really small children like we do, chances are they do not fully understand the seriousness of what is happening right now. Sitting and watching them go about, what to them seems like a normal day, is very refreshing for me. It helps me to shift my perspective and focus back on the what matters most. Children have a special way of doing that without even knowing it. Their innocence is blissful and most of the time they are not worried with what is going on in the world outside. They worry about nothing really because they know us as their parents will provide what they need, protect them and love them unconditionally!!

God calls us to be just like our little children in this way. To know that He loves us unconditionally, no matter what and to understand that He will protect us and provide for us, even when we do not understand how or know where it is going to come from. Have Faith!! Lean in on our Lord Jesus Christ. He will give you the answers you are seeking.

Having a talk with God is very very simple. Do not over complicate it, thinking you have to have the right words or have to be totally “put together” when you come to Him. He’s here for the brokenhearted, the weary, the fearful, the uncertain. Kneel down, close your eyes and give all your worries to Him.

“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavily burdened and I will give you rest.” -Matthew 11:28 AMP

I love this verse! Rest for the weary. Life is hard and I am so grateful that we are able to find rest in the Lord. He gives us His strength in our weakest moments. He gives us guidance when we are unsure. Security and comfort when we are sad, scared or anxious. He is always right there when we need Him, we are never alone. Do not feel defeated right now by your circumstance or what is happening around you. Instead pray over your troubles, leave them with God. Read His Word, immerse yourself in it and you will find joy in the midst of all that is taking place right now. My hope is that this message has encouraged you or helped you in some way. I would love to hear from you! In the comments below share a bible verse(s) that have helped you during this time.

God Bless!
